About the Kitchen Kazoo Band

The First Christian Church Kitchen Kazoo Band has a ministry all its own.Going to Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Homes, Retirement Centers, AARP Meetings, and really any place we are invited to play for their entertainment. It is so wonderful to see the older pain-ridden face break into a smile and try to sing along with us.  Also, it is good to see toes tapping to the beat of our music. Our audience seems to enjoy the unique instruments we play. The instruments include Drain Pipe Saxophone, Shower Hose Trumpet, Dowell Rod Trombone, Egg Poacher Chime, The Wash Tub Bass, Bench-n-Rake Foot Tub Snare Drum, and other Rhythm Band Instruments.  All members also sing and play Kazoos. The band sings a variety of songs - Seasonal, such as Patriotic, Valentine, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Spring, Summer Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Old Folk Songs. A short meditation and a sing along of favorite hymns usually ends the program. The Band was started in the mid 90's, when the Brenham Rest Home called the Church Women's Group (CWF) and asked them to come and help the residents celebrate at a birthday party.  The Rest Home asked for "Something Different" and that is when the thought of a Kitchen Kazoo Band cropped  up.  The Band plays to help people have a good day and feel better, but that works for the Band too.  The Band leaves the site with aches and pains forgotten and feeling blessed that they are able to walk and go where they want.

GOD TRULY BLESSES THE BAND.

We thank God for the  opportunities we have to serve Him by encouraging others.
